Job Description
A company under Columbia Group is seeking for a Port Operations Superintendent to coordinate the port operational and commercial aspects of assigned vessels. The ideal candidate will have a maritime port operational or financial background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to coordinate all elements of port and bunker operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective vessel performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary point of contact for port agents and owners regarding port operation topics.
- Manage the operational and commercial execution of assigned vessel itineraries.
- Conduct itinerary feasibility checks, costings, budget planning and forecasts.
- Monitor trading areas, itinerary, deviations, and associated operational requirements.
- Coordinate with Owners and internal departments on port, bunkering, and voyage matters.
- Arrange, port bookings, berth/anchorage reservations and oversee Port Agent appointments and performance.
- Manage PDAs and FDAs and ensure timely prefunding and budget monitoring.
- Handle bunker plan, Fuel budget and invoice processing.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and Company procedures.
- Track operational KPIs and support procedural improvements and continual development.
- Experience with MXP is considered an advantage.
Representation & Additional Duties:
- Represent the Company at meetings, forums, and operational visits when required.
- Complete tasks and projects assigned by the Head of Department.
- Maintain full familiarity with and effectively implement the Company Management System.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 1-2 years’ experience in port operations or relevant experience as seagoing Purser or Officer.
- Good operational knowledge of vessels.
- Solid understanding of port operations, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- MXP experience is an advantage.
