Navigation Officer

We are seeking to recruit a Navigation Officer in Limassol, Cyprus.

The Navigation Officer oversees the navigation, GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) on board all vessels providing practical experience of onboard equipment services.

The Navigation Officer shall have the following qualifications:

• Technical university degree and/or at least two (2) years relevant work experience.
• Very good IT skills.
• Very good technical skills and detailed knowledge of NAVCOM equipment.
• Good knowledge of manufacturer and service provider networks.
• Good expertise in trouble shooting and failure analysis.
• Good command of the English language.
• Good organisational skills and teamwork abilities.

The Navigation Officer is responsible for:

Providing Navigation equipment technical support for:

– Navigation equipment trouble shooting, operational and service support
– Evaluation of lowest cost failure rectification
– 1st and 2nd Level technical and operational support to vessels for all types and brands of:
– RADAR
– ECDIS
– Echosounder
– AIS
– VDR/S-VDR
– Speedlog
– Gyro
– BNWAS
– Autopilot & Steering Systems
– MF/HF
– INM-C
– VHF
– UHF
– EPIRB
– NAVTEX
– SART

• Arranging PSA Activations/Deactivations and filing of records all vessels.
• Setting up and supporting Fleet Tracking System.
• Providing SSAS configuration and tests all vessels.
• Filling-in Radio Station License (RSL) Applications.
• Filling-in Shore Based Maintenance (SBM) Applications.
• Filling-in AAIC applications (SARF).
• Ensuring central filing of all records of activity and correspondence.
• Conducting of communication briefing for new Captains.
• Being adequately conversant with the Company’s Management System.
• Effectively implementing the Company’s Management System.
• Contributing to the development of new or the amendment of existing procedures.
• Promoting and supporting efforts for continual improvement.
• Participating in Navcom Meetings twice a week.

Covering individually assigned jobs to:
o Providing full range of NAVCOM support for all vessels.
o Providing Dry-Dock project management and assistance for NavCom projects.
o Checking, approving, and filing of Equipment & Spare Part Invoices all vessels.
o Checking, approving, and filing of Equipment Service Invoices all vessels.

The NAVCOM Officer is accountable to the NAVCOM Manager.
