Culinary Training Officer – MCTC
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Assist and support the Culinary Training Supervisor in delivering culinary training initiatives.
- Provide e-learning coaching and guidance to crew members using approved training materials.
- Coach, assess, and support the competency development of crew members onboard vessels.
- Provide practical guidance and feedback to galley crew to improve their culinary skills and performance.
- Monitor and follow up on crew training progress, assessments, and outstanding training requirements.
- Report training progress, issues, concerns, and other relevant matters to the Culinary Training Supervisor and Fleet Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for courses, assessments, and participants.
- Follow up with vessels regarding overdue training assessments and outstanding training requirements.
- Conduct onboard visits to vessels in nearby areas when required.
- Provide onboard consultancy, practical guidance, and on-the-job culinary training to galley crew during vessel visits.
- Participate in internal training programs and maintain compliance with established training and reporting procedures.
- Support continuous improvement of culinary training activities and processes.
- Perform any other duties related to culinary training as assigned by Management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate/Diploma holder from a Culinary Arts or Hotel Management institution.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Chef.
- Strong knowledge of culinary practices, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and general computer applications.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Good command of an Indian language, both written and verbal.
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with different teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel for vessel visits.
- Passion for culinary excellence and an interest in the maritime industry.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in culinary training, coaching, consultancy, or mentoring kitchen staff.
- Previous experience working as a Chief Cook/Chef onboard merchant vessels.
- Familiarity with maritime catering standards, vessel galley operations, and crew catering practices.
- Experience delivering practical or online culinary training would be an advantage.
