Payroll Officer

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for managing the financial matters related to crew members, including payroll, expenses, and compliance with labor regulations.

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the receiving, checking, reconciliation and submission of ship’s monthly payroll to the Accounts department for payment.


  • Crew Payroll: Ensure accurate and timely processing of crew payroll specific to cruise operations, including deductions, overtime, and allowances.
  • Expense Management: Verify crew-related expenses, including reimbursement, advances, and auditing of expense reports.
  • Crew Financial Records: Maintain precise financial records related to crew finances.   
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with labor regulations and employment contracts specific to cruise ship crew members.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit crew-related financial reports as required during the voyage.

Candidate profile

  • Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in financial management and accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, specifically within the cruise ship industry.
  • Experience in other cruise companies, in processing payroll for approx. 1,300 international crew serving onboard cruise vessels.
  • Thorough understanding of cruise ship-specific accounting principles, financial regulations, and taxation related to cruise operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail in cruise ship financial management.
  • Proficiency in cruise ship-specific financial software and Adonis HR payroll module
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional cruise ship teams.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities in a cruise ship environment.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining financial transparency  
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle complex financial challenges specific to cruise ship operations.
  • Availability to work extended hours as necessary.
